A Spanish press report said Monday that Barcelona president Juan Laporta was considering rewarding Xavi Hernández, the team's technical director.
Xavi is tied for a contract with Barcelona, until the summer of 2024, and is going with the team distinctively this season, especially in the Liga competition, where he leads the table by 8 points from Real Madrid.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona's management would like to renew Xavi's contract, but the order will be postponed until the end of the season.
Laporta does not want to distract Xavi, thinking about the renovation file currently, especially since the team is in the process of important engagements, and the current contract is still extended for another season.
Laporta believes that Xavi is the fittest to lead the team's project at Camp No during the coming period, especially as most of the current players are of his choice.
Xavi, who has led Barcelona in 34 matches so far in various competitions, won 26, drew 4, and was beaten as well.
Xavi secured his first Barcelona title, winning the Spanish super, after beating Real Madrid (3-1) last month in Riyadh.
